The book is a short novel and a great read. The characters Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch are well-drawn, with wry humor and great respect in spite of their eccentricity. The dialogue alone makes the book worth reading. Appaloosa SoundtrackAccording to Upcoming Film Scores, "composer Jeff Beal reunites with actor/director Ed Harris, scoring his new film, Appaloosa. Beal wrote the music for Harris' previous directing effort, Pollock." This is in contradiction to early reports that Gustavo Santaolalla would be composing the film score. Viggo Mortensen's Mount in Appaloosa - According to Laurel Hill Farm's blog, the horse that Viggo Mortensen rides in Appaloosa is "Cash," a 17-hand Quarter Horse stallion trained by Rex Peterson. "Cash was extremely well behaved considering this is his first experience on the set with all kinds of crazy things going on around him."
